Ann Coulter is crazy. Do the conservative actually appreciate the way she says things? Search YouTube and watch the countless videos of her interviews with Matt Lauer, Katie Couric, Chris Matthews and on and on and on. All of the anchors that she ends up offending and interrupting countless times throughout the interviews are not liberal. She is so totally extreme and thoughtless when it comes to the others. Is that a good thing? Maybe for her. Her radical statements catch all of the shock value there is and she is invited to be interviewed, her books sell very well. But how many people actually support the way she goes about supporting her conservatist views? It is ridiculous….and yet so entertaining to watch.
Search www.youtube.com for Ann Coulter and see what I’m saying….

Here is another recent event that I think is pretty interesting. In our Web 2.0 class we’ve talked about how aspects of the world wide web can affect a TON of other things - television, radio, writers, politicians, etc. etc. etc. But this is one way that an external force has affected the web: economy. Google profits are slowing down as the economy is. How does the economy affect television and radio? Is this maybe one instance where the web is more detrimentally affected than anything else?

For anyone who didn’t catch the huge backlash in response to last months issue of National Geographic I’d just like to post the link on here. It’s titled “North Dakota, The Emptied Prairie” and depicts North Dakota in a pretty frustrating way - especially to those of us born and raised here! A friend of mine told me last night while we were talking about the article and how offensive it was that when she went to CloseUp Washington D.C. in high school, someone asked us if we, “…had running water and stuff?” Are you serious…….? Judge for yourself what you think, but the article is pretty extreme. It got a TON of reactions from people around the state (enough to make Fox news, wahoo! haha) Governor Hoeven wrote a response to which the National Geographic editor responded as well which is interesting to me as well….one person commented that maybe the editor should have read the article before replying because he wasn’t making any sense. I had to agree.
So here is the link for the article: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/2008-01/emptied-north-dakota/bowden-text.html
and the photo gallery: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/2008-01/emptied-north-dakota/richards-photography.html
and the blog: http://ngm.typepad.com/editors_note/2007/12/january-2008.html
and the letter to/from the editor & Hoeven: http://ngm.typepad.com/editors_note/2008/01/ive-been-follow.html
I’d love to hear other opinions on this controversial article!

Heath Ledger’s death was a shock and tragedy, no question about it. He was an extremely talented actor and will be missed. But this YouTube video of a segment of Fox News interviewing Montel Williams really put things in perspective for me, and I hope for other people too! I loved how he turned it around on the reports….somehow I don’t think they expected what they got! =)
*Note-Montel Williams did not return for the segment after commercial break
